and please email or call us with any questions you may have.
How much does it cost to do framing?
As with anything custom, there is a custom price. Framing is no different, there are so many variables & components involved. But we are here to work with you, providing free consultation and multiple options to choose from. This allows you to truly see the difference in materials and costs.
How long does it take to design a custom frame project?
It can really vary from a few minutes to over an hour. It all depends on what you are looking to achieve. We are here to help you choose and feel fully comfortable and satisfied with your design, regardless of time. If you already have something in mind, it can be a quick process. If you are not sure, we are here to help you navigate through your options. We provide a comfortable environment and want you to enjoy the process.
There are so many types of frames to choose from. How do I know which to choose?
There is no rule! What you are looking to frame and where you are looking to hang it, are the best references to start from. Be inspired by the piece itself and your space. Make note if there is a predominant wood type, or interesting shapes or angles that could help you with your selection. Is your artwork curvy and organic or sharp and linear?
What is the best way to protect frames from damage in while moving?
Be aware of when moving a frame how vulnerable the corners are to dings and damages. To protect your framed piece, use paper corners (available in corrugated cardboard, or other heavy grade card materials) that slide onto your frame and secure snugly. They are generally inexpensive and are just what you need for that extra protection. As an extra precaution, wrap your pictures in sheet or blankets and place them back to back and face to face, to avoid scratching against one another.
How long does it take to get my framing?
Generally we are a week to 2 weeks for custom framing, sometimes a little less depending upon if we have all the materials in stock. For complete custom jobs we need to allow time to get all the materials in and make sure there are no mistakes or flaws. We will do our best to accommodate your time frame.
What would matting do for my piece?
A mat board can provide many things for a framed piece. It allows a space from the frame, so your eyes lead right into the art. It also acts as a spacer, separating the art from the glass. A mat can accentuate, subdue, or focus on colors in your art, allowing it to enhance your space. It can also help cover up damage, crop out writing, or allow you to put more than one picture or object in a frame.
Do I need glass, and what options are their?
Glass acts as another form of protection and can help preserve your art for many years. We offer a variety of glass options that are all conservation quality, including non-glare and museum quality. Also where weight may be an issue, we have conservation acrylic.
Will you frame my art if I provide materials?
We can work with your materials, whether it is a mat, glass, frame, etc. But depending on the condition of these materials, we may recommend alternative options.
How can I stop my art from fading?
The best solution is to not have the art in any direct sunlight or light. But with that said you want to enjoy your art. The glazing products we offer do reduce and slow down this process. There are different options to choose from, and we can help you select the best option for you.
What can I frame?
You can practically frame anything. Though depending upon the size or depth of the object, your options can increase or decrease in materials to choose from. Framing can be a dramatic way to enjoy and display all sorts of treasures. If you aren’t sure give us a call or stop on in for a consultation.
Do you seal the frame and provide wire to hang the piece?
We seal the back of all wood frames, in order to help keep out insects and dust. We install hanging wire and a hanging system, if needed. We also provide you with a courtesy hanger, so when you get home you are all ready to hang it and enjoy!
Can you match an old frame I have?
Very often we can. Being an independent shop we carry a large selection of different vendor’s mouldings. We will do our best to research the moulding to try and get the exact match. If we don’t currently carry that vendor, we will set up and account with them to get you the matching frame. In some cases they might have been discontinued, then we will do our best to provide the closet match option for you.
Do you stretch canvases and needlework?
Yes we can do both for you, bring your items in for a free consultation. For the needlework, please make sure you have it cleaned before you bring it in.
Do you provide restoration services or appraisals?
We do not provide either of those services, but depending upon your needs, we may have a referral for you.
